By the 19th century it was recognized that community health could be improved by discharging human waste into the storm sewers for rapid removal. Development of municipal water-supply systems and household plumbing brought about flush toilets and the beginning of modern sewer systems.
Screens
Vulcan Industries has been providing both coarse and fine bar screens for both the municipal and industrial wastewater industries since the early 1980s. These screens are designed to remove objectionable material from the flow stream to protect downstream equipment.
Screens are utilized to remove objectionable material from the flow stream to reduce maintenance and improve the performance of equipment downstream. Screens can be channel mounted or in-line to receive pumped flow.
A heavy-duty automatic bar screen with a single rake assembly custom built for a wide range of applications including deep channel applications. Low maintenance design with few moving parts and mechanical components located permanently located below the water level. Bar spacings available in 0.24 inch (6 mm) up to 3 inches+.
The VMR Multi-Rake screen is an automatic,
self-cleaning mechanical bar screen designed
for tough primary and secondary screening
applications. The VMR Multi-Rake Screen can
be customized for new construction as well
as existing channels.
An automatic fine screen suitable for most wastewater applications including primary screening and sludge screening. Lowest headloss of any fine screen due to significant amount of open area in the screening surface. Low maintenance due to minimal run time required for operation. Bar spacings available in 6 mm, 5 mm, 3 mm, 2 mm and 1 mm. The Stair Screen can be channel mounted or tank mounted.
An automatic fine screen with integral compaction suitable for small wastewater treatment plants. Screen openings available in 9 mm, 6 mm and 3 mm. The Spiral Screen can be channel mounted or tank mounted.
A non-mechanical screening device for separating solids from liquids. Because there are no mechanical parts and the unit requires no power, these screens can be installed with minimal capital investment although periodic cleaning is required in most applications.
A heavy-duty automatic bar screen for applications with wide bar racks where large or multiple bar racks are not practical. Available for 1 inch or greater bar spacings.
